Anna Deavere Smith, Yet Another Star, Campaigns for Obama in Ames Saturday
Smith of West Wing will visit with volunteers at the campaign headquarters near Wheatsfield.
Actress, writer and producer Anna Deavere Smith will campaign for President Barack Obama in Ames Saturday.
Smith is known for her roles on Nurse Jackie, the West Wing and the American President.
According to a release from the Obama campaign Smith “will thank volunteers for their hard work and help them prepare for early voting in Iowa,” which starts Thursday.

She will appear 10:30 a.m. at the Obama for America-Iowa campaign office at 413 Northwestern Ave.
Smith is the seventh celebrity to swing through Ames to campaign for Obama in recent months. Kal Penn, Ryan Phillippe, Ashley Judd, Rashida Jones, Ben McKenzie and Adam Scott have visited with Ames area volunteers since July.
