AMES, Iowa – The Ames Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) will be hosting a public input session regarding the fiscal year 2013 Transportation Planning Work Program (TPWP), the fiscal year 2013 – 2016 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and a possible amendment to the 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, at Ames City Hall, Room 235, 515 Clark Ave.

In order to receive federal and state funds for transportation improvement projects, projects must be part of the approved Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP). The fiscal year 2013 – 2016 TIP indicates which projects are proposed to receive federal funding. These federally aided projects are outlined in the four-year span covering from 2013 to 2016.

A possible amendment to the 2035 LRTP to include the reconstruction of the I-35 / Hwy. 30 Interchange is also being requested by the Iowa DOT. As a requirement to use federal funding for this project and in order for the Iowa DOT to move forward with the project, it must be included in the AAMPO’s 2035 LRTP.
