At Stephens Auditorium The Nutcracker Ballet has become an annual holiday tradition for many families. Now in its 32nd year, this classic fairy tale showcases the sensational talent of over 300 dancers from local dance studios for three performances held December 8-9, 2012.

Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of bringing this whimsical, enchanting story to life. Auditions for this year’s production are scheduled for Sunday, September 9, 2012 from Noon-7 p.m. in Stephens Auditorium.

To participate in this year’s Nutcracker Ballet, dancers must be at least six (6) years old by the audition date. All dancers must wear leotards, tights and ballet or pointe shoes. Audition registration begins at 11:15 a.m. Please arrive early to complete the necessary forms prior to audition times. Dancers should be dressed, warmed-up and ready to audition at the times listed below:
Â
Noon – 3 p.m. Children ages six and older.
Roles include: Fritz and Friends, Clara and Friends, Indian Boys, Mother Ginger’s Children, Angels, Soldiers, Mice, Russians, Puppets and Harlequins.
Â
3 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Adult dancers.
Roles include: First Act Party Guests, Maids, Drosselmeyer, Mouse King, Justice Silberhaus and Frau Silberhaus.

3:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. Ballet dancers (male and female) for pointe and non-pointe.
These dancers must be enrolled in a dance studio and pointe dancers must be studying pointe. Roles include: Dolls (P), Flutes (P), Spanish (P), Chinese (P), Flower Soloists (P), Flowers (P), Snowflakes (P), Neapolitans (P), Hungarians (NP), Arabians (NP), Irish (NP), Americans (NP) and the Nutcracker (NP).
