Sanitary Sewer System Study Continues; Neighborhood Meeting on May 7

AMES, Iowa – The City of Ames is continuing a citywide, multi-year study of the
sanitary sewer system. This study will include the video inspection and of all City-owned and operated sanitary sewer lines. These efforts will also include locating and inspecting all manholes and monitoring sanitary flows at strategic locations throughout the system. This study will try to define the sources of extra flows in the sewers that should not be there and develop a program to reduce or eliminate the flows.

From 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 7, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 2210 Lincoln Way, another of several neighborhood meetings will be held to provide more information on the study. Targeted areas for the meeting include South Campus Area Neighborhood, Colonial Village Neighborhood, and Campustown areas. However, anyone is welcome to attend. Future meetings are planned for other parts of the city and for those who are interested in providing input to the project.
