Fire Closes Saint Thomas Aquinas Church
Fire damaged a small portion of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Church Tuesday night. The church remains closed Wednesday.

Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church remains closed Wednesday after a small fire filled the building with smoke Tuesday evening.
The student center will also remain closed today, according to an announcement from the church.
The fire was contained in an upper pathway above the gathering space but the smoke caused damage throughout the building requiring repairs and restoration, a statement from the church said.

The Iowa State Daily reported that the fire displaced four residents of the apartments in the building, but no one was injured.

Ames firefighters were called to the scene just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
