• 'Money Smart' virtual series begins Jan. 22 (southeastiowaunion.com) — Residents in Ames can join a free, three-part virtual “Money Smart” series from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach starting Jan. 22 to tackle bills, credit, and debt. Offered at midday and evening, the Zoom sessions help you build an emergency spending plan, prioritize payments, and improve your credit, with registration due by Jan. 13.
   

• Iowa awards opioid settlement grants focusd on prevention, treatment and EMS-linked care (ems1.com) — Ames-based Youth and Shelter Services is among ten Iowa organizations selected for up to $1 million in opioid settlement grants aimed at prevention, treatment, and EMS-linked care. The funding, drawn from statewide lawsuit settlements, will support projects to reduce opioid misuse and deaths while expanding access to medication and services across Iowa.
