Community Corner
Popular Des Moines Restaurant to Close
Downtown Des Moines and Jordan Creek Mall are making changes.

Less than one month from today, Raccoon River Brewery will serve its final meal, pour its last beer and break its last game of pool.
As the Des Moines Register reported on Tuesday night, March 7 will mark the closing of the restaurant that has served the community for 18 years on 10th Street near the Western Gateway area in downtown Des Moines.
While owners can’t say much about the overall plans just yet, it appears that there will be some major changes in the historic Clemens Building at 200 10th Street.

While patrons around Des Moines anticipate a possible new restaurant in the brewery’s place, the scene is also changing out west around Jordan Creek Mall.
As the mall starts its second decade, some leases are expiring, leaving companies with a decision to make. Some, like Victoria’s Secret, are moving in-house to expand. Others, like Eighty Six’d (the new Champps) and Abercrombie and Fitch (including the Kids store) have closed up shop.

Mall management says that a new-to-Iowa retailer, rumored to possibly be H&M, will be moving in before long as the mall continues to strive to provide fresh and relevant options for its shoppers.
Replacement suitors for recently closed Wet Seal and Delia’s, two other teen retailers, are also sought after.
