The hydraulics parts manufacturer in Ames renamed itself this week.

Sauer-Danfoss, a hydraulics parts manufacturer in Ames, dropped the Sauer from its name.

The employer of 1,000 people renamed itself Danfoss this week, according to a report in the Des Moines Register.

The name change comes after a Denmark company, The Danfoss Group, purchased the rest of the Sauer-Danfoss shares, according to the article.

The business is located on East 13th Street not far from Interstate 35. They have a 251,000 square foot factory, 108,000 square foot office and a 50,000 square foot test lab on the site.

The company makes and develops hydrostatic transmissions, orbital motors, PVG spool valves, steering components and mobile electronics, according to the company's web site.
