Stange Road, 24th Street Reconstruction Plans Available For Review On Website In Ames
The project is anticipated to begin as early as summer 2022 and will start with Stange Road.

Ames Public Works is finalizing plans for the reconstruction of Stange Road from Blankenburg Drive to 24th Street, and 24th Street from Stange Road east to the railroad tracks. The project is anticipated to begin as early as summer 2022 and will start with Stange Road. This two-year reconstruction project will include new concrete street pavement, stormwater improvements such as additional intakes and bioswales for stormwater treatment, updated pedestrian push buttons, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp improvements at the intersection of Stange Road and 24th Street.

Stange Road reconstruction is anticipated to be completed in August 2022 before Iowa State University fall semester begins. The project will be completed in three stages to allow one lane of traffic in each direction to remain open. Reconstruction of 24th Street will be completed in two stages and is anticipated to begin in spring 2023 and be completed in fall 2023. Through traffic will not be allowed for this part of the project and will be redirected to a signed detour route.
