Vilsack and King Accuse Campaigns of Dishonesty

Both the Christie Vilsack and Steve King campaigns have complained of deceptive advertising this week.

Attorneys for Christie Vilsack complained this week that a GOP commercial was spreading untruths about her support of the Affordable Health Care Act and the Act in general and asked televisions to take it off the air.

The campaign for Vilsack's opponent for the 4th District, Congressman Steve King, R-Kiron, put out a press release and a Facebook post saying that the Vilsack campaign lied when it said that King was in Iowa instead of Washington D.C. fighting for the Farm Bill and missed a recent Farm Bill rally.

Vilsack has said throughout her campaign that King hasn't done enough to push the Farm Bill forward. Vilsack has said that King won't sign the discharge petition and voted to recess Congress without settling the issue. Once the petition has 218 signatures it would be released to the floor for a vote.

On Friday, Vilsack's campaign said King had indeed skipped his own fundraiser with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie:

"Yesterday, Congressman King decided to skip his fundraiser with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, saying that he was going back to work on the Farm Bill. Instead, King stayed in Washington to vote to adjourn until November 12th, leaving the Farm Bill to expire at the end of the month. King also remains the only member of Iowa’s Congressional delegation unwilling to support a discharge petition, which would force a vote on the Farm Bill."
