Chamber: Keep Live Signs Out of the Street

The City of Ankeny has had problems with people holding promotional signs on medians, curbs and streets.

People may not be able to hold signs in Ankeny, if they don't remember to stay on private property while they are doing it, according to a recent release from the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce.

The City of Ankney has received a number of complaints about people using “live signs” while standing on medians, hanging over the curb and standing in the street to attract attention.

Live signs include sandwich boards, handheld placards and posters that advertise a charitable service or product. The Chamber said people need to remember to keep the signs on private property at all times or risk a possible change to the city's sign laws.
