One of six men vying to be the city's next manager has already withdrawn his candidacy.
The City of Ankeny announced Wednesday that John Prescott the city manager for Vermillion in South Dakota no longer wishes to be considered for the position.

Deb Dyar a communications officer with the City of Ankeny said no explanation was given.

Ankeny City Council selected six finalists for the manager position during a council meeting on Monday. Just two, David Jones, a county administrator of Polk County and Craig Malin a city administrator of Davenport live within the state.

The council hopes to make the final choice in August after holding interviews 1 p.m. Aug. 6. Ankeny residents will be able to meet all candidates from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Pinnacle Club at Otter Creek.
