The committee has $1.144 million on hand and hopes to raise $1.2 million for an all inclusive ball field and play ground near the ball fields at Hawkeye Park.
Efforts to build the park are a collaboration between the City of Ankeny, the Ankeny Kiwanis Club, and the Miracle Park steering committee. The organizations estimate that as many as 3,500 children with special needs will make use of the ball field and play ground. About 800 of those children live right in Ankeny.

Organizers also hope to add a rubberized surface for the field and playground, fencing, bleachers, dugouts, field lighting, sensor play equipment and more.
