The Ankeny Parks Board will host an event to get to know area families and share sweet treats.

Harry Potter Movie

1 p.m. Tuesday at the Kirkendall Public Library, 1210 NW Prairie Ridge Drive

The library will feature Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. People can bring their own snacks and a covered drink.

Iowa Watercolor Society 36th Annual Juried Exhibit

10 a.m. Thursday 1520 SW Ordnance Road, Ankeny.

The opening reception for the newest exhibit at the Ankeny Art Center will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

On With Life Golf Outing

11 a.m. Thursday 410 NE Otter Creek Drive

On With Life's 7th Annual silent auction and Golf Outing is Thursday.

Movies Under the Stars: HOP

Dusk Friday Wagner Park Bandshell, 410 W. 1st Street

Families and all are invited to bring a blanket, snacks and more and enjoy this free movie in the park.

Cops Against Cancer 5-0 BBQ

5 to 11 p.m. Sunday, FFA Enrichment Center at Ankeny DMACC Campus

Sales Tax Holiday

The sales tax holiday for back to school items is Friday and Saturday Aug. 2 and Aug. 3. No sales tax will be collected on clothing or footwear that costs $100 or less. For more information visit http://www.iowa.gov/tax/educate/holiday1.html
