Blowing in the Wind:
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier has a great special section on wind energy, describing how Iowa is one of the top states for wind energy production, and on Monday the Cedar Falls City Council to regulate small wind turbines in residential areas.
Hunger Games:
UNI students participated in a hunger banquet - some participants got rice and beans, some just got rice and some feasted on pasta and dessert - to learn about worldwide poverty. Read the Northern Iowan article here.
'Tis the Season:
Cedar Falls High School did their part to fight the hunger the UNI students learned about. High School students collected over 32,000 pounds of food for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, surpassing their goal by 2,000 pounds and bringing in more than 30 pounds per student.
