Photos: Cedar Falls Municipal Band Kicks Off Summer Concert Series

The Cedar Falls Municipal Band is reportedly the oldest municipal band in the state. They entertained a crowd of music lovers in Overman Park June 5.

The Cedar Falls Municipal Band kicked off its summer concert series Tuesday with a flourish and a nod to another big event of the day - the Transit of Venus.

The band played the Transit of Venus March by John Philip Sousa as the sun - and with it the rare astronomical event - set behind the Overman Park bandshell.

The park was full of music enthusiasts of all ages, sitting on folding chairs and blankets on the ground.
