Kenyon Beats Lyon for Iowa House Nomination

He will face incumbent Democrat Bob Kressig in the November general election.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, several news organizations are reporting has beating for the Repubican nomination for the 59th district seat of the Iowa House of Representatives.

The votes are in at 583 to 219, with 73 percent going to Kenyon.

Kenyon, 64, is a member of the Cedar Falls School Board and is a veterinarian in Cedar Falls.

"I just appreciate the people who came out to vote," he told Patch. "I appreciate Mr. Lyon and his hard work and the people who came out to support him. I’m looking forward to the next hurdle, to the election in five months."

He will face incumbent Democrat Bob Kressig in the November general election.

Lyon, 63, works at Ace Hardware in Cedar Falls.

"I think Dr. Kenyon is a pretty good candidate," he said. "This is the first time I've run for anything, and I’ve learned a lot. I’m not sorry that I ran."
