Board of Regents To Consider Price Lab Fate Monday

The Regent's next scheduled meeting is March 21, but board members will meet via telephone Feb. 27 to discuss recommendations the school be closed.


The Iowa Board of Regents has issued a statement saying they will meet Monday to consider a recommendation to close .

The recommendation to close the research and development school effective June 30 by president Ben Allen. It has to be approved by both the Regents and the state legislature.

The Regent's next scheduled meeting is March 21, but the board will hold a special session, via telephone, for the decision. The meeting will be 1 p.m. Feb. 27.

Here is the statement from Regents Executive Director Robert Donley:

On behalf of the Board of Regents, I want to express our support for President Ben Allen and the important steps he announced today that we believe will ensure the fiscal and academic integrity of the university well into the future. We are confident that President Allen’s leadership and strategic vision for the University of Northern Iowa will continue to ensure the highest academic quality for our students.

The Regents office did not immediately return calls asking for further comment.
