Man Ransacks Building, Takes Snacks: Cedar Falls Police Blotter

William James Lindaman, male, 39, of 2603-317 Orchard Drive, was arrested Jan. 12 at 4:23 p.m. at the Black Hawk County Jail and charged with one count of second-degree criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree burglary.

The arrest was the culmination of an investigation that began in October, police said.

On Oct. 29, officers were dispatched to , 2616 Orchard Drive. A window was broken, an employee snack display was torn open, and money and food were taken from the building, police said. The business was ransacked, with items tossed around, broken glass on the carpet and a window blind damaged. Blood stains were found throughout the building, police said.

While checking the area, officers discovered a second burglary had occurred at , 2624 Orchard Drive, where a window was also broken, police said. There was broken glass in the hall and an exam room, as well as damaged window blinds. There were also blood stains on the frame, window ledge and blinds of the broken window.

Total clean up costs for both burglaries was just under $2,100.

Lindaman became a suspect during the investigation, police said. Police said his DNA was compared to the swabs taken from the blood stains and determined to be a match. Shoes found in his residence also allegedly matched a tread pattern impression left on broken glass at Comfort Care.

Valerie Monique Vivian, female, 21, of 2216-4 Merner Ave., arrested at 10:21 p.m at 23rd Street and Merner Avenue, charged with operating while intoxicated/drugged first and possession of marijuana.

Jan. 11:

Elizabeth Cornellia Schroeder, female, 21, of 943 Higby Drive, arrested at 1:50 a.m. at Third Street and Washington Street, charged with operating while intoxicated/drugged first.

Jan. 12:

Vanessa Lynn Saffold, female, 25, of Iowa Falls, arrested at 5:02 a.m. at 220 Clay St., charged with operating while intoxicated/drugged second.

Travis Joseph Heath, male, 23, of 1003 Maple St., arrested at 7:41 p.m at same location, charged with failure to appear.
