Police: Woman's Desire for Manicure Leads to Arrest: Cedar Falls Police Blotter

A woman was arrested after allegedly stealing an artificial nail kit from Walmart in Cedar Falls.
Police arrested Christina Jo Mauthe, 32, of Rock Valley, Feb 21 at 6:18 p.m. She was charged with fifth degree theft.
Police said she had selected an artificial nail kit and walked to the shoe aisle, where she opened the kit and concealed the items in her coat. She allegedly then proceeded to self-checkout, where she attempted to purchase magazines, but her credit card was declined. Police said she did not attempt to pay for the $50 nail kit.

Bruce Elliott Smith, 46, male, of Chicago, arrested at 3 p.m. at the Black Hawk County Jail, charged with identity theft over 1000 and possession of a controlled substance.
Alan Russell McCrary, 38, male, of 4117-48 University Ave., arrested at 6:29 p.m. at the Cedar Falls Police Station, charged with assault without intent to injury.

Peter Nathan Brekken, 23, male, of Lake Mills, arrested at 2 a.m. at 804 W. Seerley Blvd., charged with consumption in public/intox and criminal trespass.
John Philip Williams, 39, male, of 4701-2 Chadwick Road, arrested at 1:46 p.m. at the 1000 block of Main Street, charged with driving with license revoked.
