Police: Test Drive Leads to Theft Charge: Cedar Falls Police Blotter

A Waterloo man was arrested April 14 after allegedly never returning a car he took out for a test drive at a Cedar Falls dealership.
Michael James Grommet, 27, was arrested at 10:14 a.m. at the Black Hawk County Jail and charged with first-degree theft.
Police said Grommet took a 2005 Chevy Tahoe, valued at $11,850, for a test drive from , saying he was going to show the car to his wife and mother-in-law. Two and half hours later, police said Grommet called the dealership and said he was at the bank trying to get money for the vehicle. However, he allegedly never brought the car back.

Police said Grommet had left his own vehicle behind, which allowed them to identify him.

Skyler Ross Spaur, 19, male, of Dancer Hall-919, University of Northern Iowa, arrested at 12:56 a.m. at 2223 College St., charged with possession of fictitious license.
Travis Joseph Heath, 23, male, of 1003 Maple St, arrested at 9:25 a.m. at the Cedar Falls police station, charged with possession of marijuana.
Rosie Lee Sanders, 89, female, of Waterloo, arrested at 3:33 p.m. at , charged with fifth degree theft.

Jennifer Lynn Nicholas, 30, female, of 1813-66 W. Eighth St., arrested at 2:13 p.m. at 525 Brandilynn Blvd., charged with fifth degree theft.
April 15:
Shane Michael Pabst, 24, male, of Aplington, arrested at 3:43 a.m. at 1305-3 Amelia Drive, charged with assault domestic serious, interference/no injury and intoxication/second.
