UPDATE: Name of Driver in Cedar Falls Crash Released

The crash occurred Tuesday night.

The name of a driver who was airlifted to Iowa City after a single-vehicle crash in Cedar Falls Tuesday has been released.

Samuel Genolous, 68, of Cedar Falls, was airlifted to University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after his car went off the road, traveled through a ditch and struck a tree.

Cedar Falls Police said Genolous's injuries are life-threatening and he remained hospitalized.

A single-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 218 in Cedar Falls sent the driver to University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City Tuesday night.

The driver's name was not released.

Cedar Falls Police responded to the accident. Police said the car in the crash was a silver Chevrolet Impala. At about 6:40 p.m., at mile marker 187, the car went off the side of the road, traveled through the ditch and struck a tree.

The driver was alone in the vehicle, and was airlifted to Iowa City after initially being transported to Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
