Flash Flood Watch Issued for Cedar Falls

The National Weather Service issued the watch for seven Iowa counties.

A flash flood watch is in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines issued the watch for Grundy, Hardin, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Franklin, Black Hawk and Bremer Counties.

Thunderstorms are expected across the watch area with heavy rainfall. Rain amounts of one to two inches will be possible overnight, with higher amounts in some areas.

Recent rainfall has produced moist soil conditions and any heavy rain will quickly saturate soil, leading to rapid runoff and possible flash flooding.
