Foiled in Metal Theft Attempt, Men Crash Gate to Escape in Cedar Falls
Cedar Falls police are investigating an attempted theft at Viking Pump.

are investigating an attempted theft at Viking Pump, 715 Viking Road.
On March 6 at 5:03 p.m., police were dispatched to the manufacturing plant. Police said three Hispanic men had entered the building and attempted to have a large amount of valuable metal loaded into their truck.
When employees became suspicious, police said the men ran to their vehicle and crashed through a closed chain link security gate.

The suspects' vehicle, a silver 2011 Ford F350 with Illinois plates, was found a short time later in residential neighborhood. It was determined to be stolen from the Chicago area. The photo with this article is of the recovered stolen vehicle.
It is unknown how long the subjects were in the area prior to the attempted theft.
