Man Allegedly Stole Over $14,000 From Local Church: Cedar Falls Police Blotter

arrested a man who allegedly cashed over $14,000 in checks from Antioch Baptist Church in Waterloo.

Kearie Raguel Patterson, 26, of Fort Dodge, was arrested March 23 at 12:41 p.m. at 6004 University Ave. and charged with two counts of forgery and one count of first-degree theft.

Police said they were called to  on a report a man was attempting to cash a fraudulent check. Patterson was allegedly trying to cash a check for $4456.87, made out to him from Antioch Baptist Chuch.

Police said he had previously successfully cashed three other checks from the church, drawing a total of $14,470.61.

The church had reported the blank checks as stolen. Police said Patterson claimed the checks were given to him for work at the church, which the church said was false.

March 20:

Kimberly Di Ann Tanner, 52, female, of 1027-4 Maplewood Dr., arrested at 9:18 a.m. at the same location, charged with third degree theft.

Timothy Lawrence Brandt, 40, male, of 815 W. 23rd St., arrested at 7:30 p.m. at the Cedar Falls Police Station on an outside warrant.

March 22:

Travis Cole Meadows, 23, male, of 1520 Brookside Drive, arrested at 11:45 p.m. at , 2210 College St., charged with outside warranted/wanted.

March 25:

Chaston Dewite Fox, 19, male, of Waterloo, arrested at 11:22 p.m. at University Avenue and Rownd Street, charged with possession of marijuana.
