How Did Man Accused of Stealing Walmart Gift Cards Get Caught? Cedar Falls Police Blotter

Police arrested a man who allegedly stole gift cards and a digital camera while working at his job as a night janitor at .

David Jon Klippel, 29, of Waterloo, was arrested March 16 at 6:58 p.m. at the and charged with fourth degree theft.

Police said theft of the gift cards and camera, together valued at $259, was reported March 8. On March 14, Walmart employees informed the police the stolen gift cards had been used. Security footage from the store allegedly showed Klippel using the gift cards.

Police said Klippel at first denied taking the items but later stated he may have taken them.

Jessica Marie Schmaltz, 30, female, of Waterloo, arrested at 5:19 p.m. at , charged with fifth degree theft.

Alqueisha Janae Campbell, 19, female, of 1207-7 Maplewood Drive, arrested at 6:16 p.m. at the same location, charged with possession of marijuana.

March 18:

Ingrid Virginia Folkers, 20, female, of Waterloo, arrested at the Cedar Falls Police Station, charged with operating while intoxicated/drugged first.
