Cedar Falls Police Plan National Night Out to Raise Awareness

Cedar Falls emergency personnel will give tours, along with handouts, treats and drinks.

On August 7 there will be a joint effort between and the retail store to promote and celebrate the National Night Out. The event will run from 4:00pm-7:00pm. This marks the 29th anniversary of this nationwide project which is designed to:

•           Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.

•           Generate support for, and participation in local anticrime programs.

•           Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

•           Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The Cedar Falls Target store will host the event in their parking lot and there will be a police vehicle, fire truck, ambulance and Air Care helicopter on display; along with crew and emergency personnel to give tours and explain what they do to promote safety in the community. There will be opportunities to have children fingerprinted; and there will be handouts, treats and drinks available.

This event is a great opportunity for the public to meet emergency responders from the Cedar Valley; and to realize they are real people who want to help their communities and make a difference by providing these important services.
