• 2025 Year In Review: Top high school sports stories (wcfcourier.com) — Cedar Falls readers can celebrate senior runner Jaden Merrick, who capped 2025 by winning the Class 4A state cross country title in Fort Dodge. His championship is featured in a statewide roundup of standout high school sports moments from throughout the year.
• Arvilla J. Lien (kfgo.com) — Cedar Falls readers may remember Arvilla and Lloyd Lien, who made their home in the city before moving to Minnesota, where Arvilla recently passed away at 89. Her life journey began in rural Parkersburg and included years of bookkeeping, church involvement, and family-centered traditions. A celebration of life will be held Jan. 5 in Dilworth, Minnesota, with memorials suggested to Dilworth Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
