1. 2 people in Cedar Falls arrested for child endangerment (kcrg.com) — Cedar Falls Public Safety officers arrested two out-of-state adults after a six-month-old child was found with serious injuries and placed in state care. The child is receiving medical treatment, and officials say a criminal complaint describes multiple fractures and a brain bleed. Authorities report one suspect admitted forcing the baby into a snowsuit and delaying medical attention.
   

2. Cedar Falls launches Snow Buddies to aid residents with winter sidewalk snow removal (cbs2iowa.com) — Cedar Falls is rolling out a new Snow Buddies volunteer program to help residents who can’t clear their own sidewalks stay in compliance with city rules and keep walkways safe. Volunteers are matched with nearby addresses for the entire winter and must bring their own shovels or snowblowers. Residents needing help or wanting to pitch in can call 319-268-5156 or email SnowBuddies@cedarfalls.com.
   

3. Cedar Falls public safety assure no delays despite cold weather (kwwl.com) — Cedar Falls police and firefighters say they’ll be fully staffed and ready to respond this weekend, even as temperatures plunge below zero. Working closely with road crews, the fire department will keep trucks running, use a medical SUV for easier access, and prioritize clear routes so emergency responses aren’t slowed by ice or snow.
   

4. Undergraduate research opportunities for summer 2026 through Iowa… (dordt.edu) — If you’re a Cedar Falls–area undergrad eyeing summer 2026 research, several paid EPSCoR projects are based right at UNI, offering $6,000 stipends plus housing. From Monte Carlo modeling and biomedical machine learning in Cedar Falls to chemistry and biomanufacturing projects elsewhere in Iowa, applications are open through January 31, 2026.
