• Cedar Falls carjacking suspect released from hospital; booked on multiple charges (kwwl.com) — A man accused in a violent Dec. 31 carjacking and police pursuit in Cedar Falls has been released from the hospital and moved to the Linn County jail, where he faces multiple felony charges. Prosecutors say additional charges, including in Black Hawk County, are possible as state investigators review the officer-involved shooting and the involved officers remain on critical incident leave.
   

• Youth wrestling YouTuber sues Iowa woman over her online comments • Oklahoma Voice (oklahomavoice.com) — A Cedar Falls–area photographer is being sued in federal court by an NCAA wrestling official and YouTuber who claims her social media posts wrongly linked his youth wrestling videos to inappropriate online use, damaging his reputation and business. The suit, filed in the Northern District of Iowa, seeks damages for alleged defamation and related harms after organizations cut ties and he reported threats at his home.
   

• Grassley Nominates 31 Iowa Students to U.S. Military Academies - KCHA NEWS - Charles City's News, Weather & Sports (kchanews.com) — Two Cedar Falls students, Shae Magley and Joseph Winland, have been nominated by Sen. Chuck Grassley for appointments to the U.S. Air Force and Naval academies, respectively. They’re among 31 Iowa seniors recognized statewide, giving local families a big reason to celebrate and watch for academy acceptance decisions in the coming months.
