Pedestrian Struck by Car in Cedar Falls

A man was hospitalized after being struck by a car near the intersection of Highway 58 and Viking Road in Cedar Falls Wednesday.

A man was hospitalized after being struck by a car in Cedar Falls Wednesday.

Cedar Falls Police said Sham Laxman, 63, was hit near the intersection of Highway 58 and Viking Road. He was laying in the southbound lanes of Highway 58 when officers arrived on the scene around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Laxman, whose address was not known, was transported to Covenant Medical Center. His condition was not released.

Police said Laxman was walking east across the southwest portion of the intersection when he was struck by a southbound vehicle on Highway 58. Officers said the car had been stopped for a red light and was accelerating when Laxman crossed in front of it.

Police said Amber Nielsen, 27, of Washburn, was driving the 2006 Mazda that struck Laxman. She was not injured in the accident.
