Peregrine Charities Triathalon Canceled As Founder's Financial Discrepencies, Attempted Suicide Investigated

Peregrine Financial Group founder and CEO Russell Wasendorf Sr. reportedly attempted suicide in Cedar Falls Monday.

An annual triathalon to benefit area hospitals was canceled Monday after was filed against the charity event's sponsor, Peregrine Financial Group, PFGBEST, and after PFGBEST CEO Russell Wasendorf Sr. apparently .

The race was scheduled for August 18 and 19 at George Wyth State Park.

Due to recent emergency events involving Peregrine Charities founder, Russell R. Wasendorf, Sr. – a suicide attempt yesterday morning and subsequent investigations into the corporate sponsor of the Charities (PFGBEST) – the 2012 Peregrine Charities Triathlon is cancelled. We regret to inform you of this news and we will try to communicate any further developments to you. Thank you for your efforts to participate in the Triathlon, which has benefitted children in regional hospitals and the families caring for them.

Peregrine Charities grants funds to Eastern Iowa hospitals to assist with their care of children and to fund research for rare childhood diseases.
