Police: Dog Stolen In Cedar Falls; Suspect Left Notes

Cedar Falls police are investigating the theft of an English Yellow Lab from a Cedar Falls residence.

A dog police say was stolen days before Christmas has yet to be found.

Cedar Falls police are investigating the theft of an English Yellow Lab from a home at 224 W. Seerley Blvd. on Dec. 21. The dog is 4 and 1/2 years old, with a white coat.

Police said the dog was kept in an outside kennel within feet of the house. Someone left notes, saying the dog had been taken and was in a safe place, at the house before, during and after the theft.

Cedar Falls Police Capt. Jeff Harrenstein said the notes referred to the dog being mistreated by the owner, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported. However, police said the dog had access to a heated dog house within the kennel, and officials have not said the dog was mistreated.
