Mask was able to escape through a fire tower in the jail... Sheriff Thompson says it's no excuse, but he believes two separate contractors working in the jail at the time contributed to the security breech. The two contractors are upgrading security systems in the jail, including video cameras in the jail and the jail visitation telephones.
Mask has had a series of run-ins with the law for drugs, robbery and burglary, and has also previously escaped a drug treatment facility.
Mask escaped the facility in April and then was arrested in connection with a robbery at a local drug store, and in 2010 had a prescription drug arrest and also a burglary conviction for breaking into a home and stealing prescription drugs, according to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.
