PHOTOS: 'This is My Family,' Price Lab Picnic a Bittersweet Goodbye
The end-of-year picnic was a time for many Price Lab students, parents and teachers to celebrate their community as they prepared to say goodbye to their school.
Malcolm Price Laboratory School sixth grade teacher Julie Creeden was all smiles as she posed with her students at an end-of-year picnic Tuesday. But her smiles were tinged with sadness.
"It's awful. It's probably one of the saddest days I've had to go through," she said. "This is my family."
She and the rest of the Price Lab community are preparing to say goodbye to their school, which is slated to close its doors after classes end Wednesday.

His daughter, second grader Karlie Rodgers, piped up.
"We love this school!" she said.
Fourth grader Madi Dye said she had attended Price Lab since preschool.
"I'm sad, because you look back to all the memories and you think you have to leave your school after such a long time," she said.
Kyle Denning graduated from Price Lab in 2011. He was back for the picnic to show support for his sixth grade sister.
"I wanted to come back to celebrate the last few days of school with her," he said. "It's a lot different knowing you're not going to have a place to come back to as an alumni."
