Dozens of Photos Added To Price Lab Prom Gallery: Add Yours By Midnight, You Could Win $100

The drama that has enveloped their school was pushed to the background as Price Lab's teens danced with their friends April 21.

At Price Lab's Northern University High prom Saturday night, there was little evidence of the drama that has enveloped the school in recent weeks.

Parents, teachers and students have been dealing with plans to close their school at the end of the school year.

But at prom, the focus was not on legal battles or open enrollment options. Instead, dancing and friends were the center of the night. Students danced at the Center for Energy and Environmental Education on the campus. The building was transformed for the night with a dance floor, colored lights and a Hawaiian theme.

The one concession to the planned school closure? This year, for the first time, ninth and tenth graders were allowed to attend the prom.

"Nobody else will have the opportunity to have a prom at NU," interim director Lynn Countryman said. "So we’re just trying to make the transition for the kids easy."
