Public Intoxication and Mittimus, A Charge We Had To Look Up: Cedar Falls Police Blotter

Editor's note: I had to look up the definition of mittimus, one of the charges on today's blotter. It means an order from a judge for a person to be confined to jail, typically for a past offense.

August 12:

Jana Marie Teague, 24, female, of 4808 Algonquin Drive, arrested at 1:53 a.m. at Fourth Street and Main Street, charged with intoxication/second.

Mark Dewayne Crawford, 26, male, of 2509 Iowa St., arrested at 2:40 a.m. at Sixth Street and Main Street, charged with habitual offender/barred.

William Grant Pollock, 22, male, of 609 Harrison Ave., arrested at 3:23 a.m. at the 1900 block of Tremont Street, charged with consumption in public/intoxication and interference/no injury.

Cody John Hayes, 22, male, of 1316 Main St., arrested at 6:39 p.m. at the same location, charged with mittimus. (Mittimus: noun, plural mit·ti·mus·es. Law. 1. a warrant of commitment to prison. 2. a writ for removing a suit or a record from one court to another.)

John Leroy Bentley Jr., 49, male, of 915 Clay St., arrested at 8:54 p.m. at the same location, charged with probation violation.
