Matt Reisetter's campaign has filed an ethics complaint against Sen. Jeff Danielson.

The complaint, submitted to the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board, claims Danielson accepted an illegal campaign contribution from a corporation.

Corporate contributions to candidates in Iowa are not allowed, but the complaint alleges Danielson's campaign accepted $100 from KJ's Ventures, Inc.
Danielson said the matter was a clerical error, and the contribution should have been attributed to the Nebraska company's chief executive officer Kenneth Neujahr.

"This was always understood as an individual contribution, and we are correcting the clerical error. Keep in mind, this is only a claim by my opponent, and the ethics board will do its job," he told KWWL.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier also reported on the complaint:
While the contribution was reported in Danielson's July report, Reisetter's campaign waited until October to file the report. Justin Bartlett, Reisetter's campaign manager, indicated the campaign wanted to wait until the October reports were out to see if Danielson's campaign had returned the contribution before filing a complaint. Danielson said his campaign was never notified about the existence of a corporate contribution before the ethics complaint was filed.
"It's unfortunate that Matt's mudslinging has harmed the reputation of a small-business owner who did not deserve it," Danielson told the Courier.
