School Board Election Guide: New Polling Places This Year, Candidate Profiles and More
The election is Tuesday, Sept. 10. In Cedar Falls, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

School board election time has arrived - here's what you need to know.
The election is Tuesday, Sept. 10. In Cedar Falls, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The city has new polling stations for this school board election. Voters do not need to go to their normal precinct stations. Instead, they can go to any of the following four voting stations:
Cedar Falls City Hall, 220 Clay St.
Church of Christ Church, 2727 West 4th St.
Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church, 2015 Rainbow Drive
Nazareth Lutheran Church, 7401 University Ave.

All seats are at-large, meaning the entire school district will be able to vote for each seat. There are seven candidates running for three seats on the board.

Voters will also be asked to vote for Hawkeye Community College Board of Directors seats. For District 9, which covers the northwest portion of Cedar Falls, two people are running. Incumbent Dave Krejchi, 53, is being challenged by Ron McLaughlin, 72. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier has run-downs of their positions. The other districts that cover Cedar Falls have only one candidate running per district, Joan Webster-Vore for District 7 and John Schuller for District 3.
Finally, voters will be asked whether a support levy for Hawkeye Community College should be renewed for another decade. Here is the language on the ballot:

“Shall Merged Area VII (Hawkeye Community College) continue to levy a tax not to exceed twenty and one-quarter cents per thousand dollars of assessed value for a period not to exceed ten years, commencing with the levy payable in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2015, for the purpose of maintaining, remodeling, improving or expanding the community college, or such other purposes as permitted in Section 260C.22 of the Iowa Code?”
