Snow-Related Parking Ordinance Issued in Cedar Falls

The city issued the parking ordinance to help clear snowy streets.


The has issued a 48-hour parking ordinance in response to Friday's heavy snowfall.

Beginning Monday, Jan. 23 at 8 a.m., police will begin ticketing vehicles parked on city streets. Owners of vehicles parked on city streets continuously for over 48 hours are asked to move their vehicles to private driveways or areas of the street which have been plowed. Any vehicle not moved within 24 hours after receiving a citation will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Residents are also reminded to clear their abutting sidewalks of snow and ice in accordance with city ordinance. Also beginning Monday at 8 a.m., the city will begin serving notices to residents who have not cleared the sidewalk abutting their property.

Police will put door signs on properties that have not cleared their sidewalks. Residents that do not clear their sidewalks within 24 hours of receiving the door sign will be sent a letter asking them to clear the sidewalk. If the sidewalk remains uncleared, the city may send someone to clear the sidewalk, and the property owner will be billed for the labor.
