"We did a full plow today, but unfortunately with the blowing snow, it’s covered up again already. We’ll go out and do it all again tomorrow," Supervisor Randy Bennett said. "Everybody would like to have their street done right away, but it just takes time."
The Iowa Department of Transportation's website listed Highways 63, 218 and 27 around Cedar Falls as partially or mostly covered this afternoon.
Today is the first time this winter the snow plows have been called out. Bennett said the abnormally warm winter hasn't kept the department dormant, however.
"It’s actually given us an opportunity before the snow came to get a lot of ditch and park maintenance done," he said. "We were really getting more summer projects done."
The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies tomorrow, with a high of 18 degrees Fahrenheit and wind chills as low as minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit. They predict a 40 percent chance of snow on Saturday, with a high near 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
