UNI Program Changes To Be Announced At 1 p.m. Today

Spokespeople for the say an official list of changes to academic programs, including which programs will be eliminated, will be announced today at 1 p.m.

UNI President Ben Allen and Provost Gloria Gibson will meet with media to discuss the changes at 2 p.m.

The cuts will be announced following meetings with the United Faculty senate earlier this week. , but UNI spokespeople have stressed those drafts could change in the final version.

Budget cuts at UNI, including the proposed closing of , have stirred controversy in recent weeks. The UNI faculty cast in Allen and Gibson March 2, a move unprecedented in the institution's history.

UNI is $5 million in debt this year, and they hope the cuts will help maintain the university's mission into an uncertain economic future.
