UNI to Host Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Monday

Students, faculty and staff at the University of Northern Iowa will participate in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.

Students, faculty and staff at the University of Northern Iowa will participate in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, in the Cedar Valley.

Volunteers will participate in various service projects at places throughout the community including the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, Cedar Valley Hospitality House, Catholic Work House, the Center for Energy and Environmental Education and the Ridgeway Place.

Transportation will be provided to send students to organizations. The event will end with a luncheon and a guest speaker, Michael Blackwell, director of UNI's Center for Multicultural Education. He will speak about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the value of service in our communities.
