Visiting Professor Will Discuss UNI Finances
Howard Bunsis is being hosted by the United Faculty union to discuss UNI's spending and saving.

A national expert on university finances will visit the today to discuss UNI's spending and saving.
Howard Bunsis will speak at 5 p.m. in the John Deere auditorium of the Curris Business Building.
Bunsis, who holds an MBA as well as a law degree, is a faculty member at Eastern Michigan University, as well as the chair of the American Association of University Professor’s Collective Bargaining Congress.

The American Association of University Professors has announced UNI after controversy over recent budget cuts. The AAUP is affiliated with campus union United Faculty.

"Drawing on the university’s audited financial statements and other public records, Bunsis will explain the details of UNI’s financial practices, from the amount of money spent each year on administration, to the university’s cash reserves, to administrative salary increases, and the diminishing support for research and teaching. A question and answer period will follow the presentation."
United Faculty president Cathy DeSoto said UNI administration has been invited to attend the talk.
“Our only goal is to have an honest and open discussion of the actual facts about our university’s finances,” she said in the press release.
UNI spokeswoman Stacey Christensen said university administrators would attend the event.
