1. Why did you decide to run for office?
When I went to the Black Hawk County Republican Convention, it looked as if the incumbent was running un-opposed and it was suggested to me that I should run. I decided to go for it. It seems to me that government is getting bigger and wasting more of our money and our freedoms are rapidly eroding. I would like a chance to turn that around a serve the people of Cedar Falls in that way.
2. What issues do you want to address if elected?
The people of Cedar Falls need someone who will really listen to what is important to them and address those issues. There are many that are important to me personally, but I want to listen to the people before I say what they are.
3. Why should voters choose you over your opponents in this race?
Because I will stand up for good Iowa values like no one you have ever seen before.
4. What is your background?
I have worked in the building trades, construction, communications industry, civil engineering related mapping. I was a Navy Corpsman assigned to the Marines in Vietnam as a combat medic. I am a UNI graduate with a B. A. in Industry (May 1980.) My older son and daughter are both teachers that graduated from UNI.
5. What is your favorite thing about living in the Cedar Valley?
It is all the things that having UNI in our community has to offer like sports, music and drama. I also enjoy our bike trail system.
6. How long have you lived in the Cedar Valley and what brought you to live here?
I grew up in Cedar Falls, graduated from C. F. High in 1966. My dad, Howard Lyon, taught chemistry at UNI for many years.
