1. Why did you decide to run for office?
The need for transparency in government; the need for fiscal responsibility in government.
2. What issues do you want to address if elected?Â
My first priority will be the budget - looking for opportunities for efficiencies with the goal of avoiding property tax increases. County road conditions in regard to public safety.
3. Why should voters choose you over your opponents in this race?
In my opinion, the make up of the current Board of Supervisors does not adequately represent the diversity of our community. The majority of the current supervisors have not been small business owners or responsible for budgets prior to being elected. I haven't seen them willing to tackle tough questions, for instance, are there areas or services within the county that could be combined, allowing tax payers to realize a tax savings? I prefer a proactive approach to change, looking for ways to improve.
4. What is your background?
I am an accountant, a tax preparer who has worked in or with small business for the last 16 years.
5. What is your favorite thing about living in the Cedar Valley?
The wonderful, hard working people!
6. How long have you lived in the Cedar Valley and what brought you to live here?
September was 10 years, and I married an Iowa native.
