Running for:  Running against in the Republican primary for the Iowa House of Representatives, District 59. The primary winner will challenge incumbent Democrat Bob Kressig.
Family: Wife -  Cynthia, teacher at Peet Jr. High School, Cedar Falls.
       Daughter -  Jennifer, husband Brook and children Anna and Ethan and
baby in Oct.  Live in Cedar Falls.
       Daughter - Carolyn, husband Christopher and baby in Aug.  Live in
Des Moines.
       Son - John, lives in Minneapolis.
Occupation:  Veterinarian, Cedar Valley Veterinary Center

1. Why did you decide to run for office?  I have been asked over the
years to run for the House of Representatives. Operating a business and
giving the community the time to serve as their representative was not
possible until now. I believe in a citizen government and not one where
professional politicians continue to get elected for a career.

2. What issues do you want to address if elected?  Economic development
through commercial tax relief and less regulation, education at all levels
from pre k-12, Regents, and private college, and community college, Health
and human services.

3. Why should voters choose you over your opponents in this race? Experienced business background including a workforce with benefits, health
and retirement.  Decades of experience as a school board member, and
numerous community boards and state boards.

4. What is your background? US Army veteran and 13 years US
Army Reserves. Cedar Falls Chamber of Commerce Chairman. Iowa State
Veterinary Medical Association President, State Board of Veterinary
Examiners,  Cedar Falls Rotary President, Cedar Falls School Board.

5. What is your favorite thing about living in the Cedar Valley? The
community's sense of civic responsibility, which makes each person important
in making this such a special place to call home.  The library, recreation
center, the trails, the university, the Historical Society, Overman Park,
our excellent utilities, our city planners and government, Main Street, the
Hill each contributes in making the community special.

6. How long have you lived in the Cedar Valley and what brought you to live here?  We have lived here for 34 years, coming in 1978 for a job.
