When Will Board of Regents Consider UNI Academic Cuts?
Last week UNI President Ben Allen and Provost Gloria Gibson recommended closing or restructuring over 70 academic programs, but the Board of Regents must approve the changes.

The Iowa Board of Regents will meet Wed., March 21 in Iowa City, and a recommendation to close 58 academic programs at the  is on the agenda.
The agenda says the Board's Education and Student Affairs Committee will discuss the request to terminate programs at UNI during its session from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. No other details on what that discussion would entail were released.
The full Board will convene in an open session at 1 p.m., during which there will be an update from UNI President Ben Allen.

The Board will also vote on extending the application period to April 30 for UNI's early separation incentive package, which is intended to avoid layoffs of tenured faculty as UNI eliminates and downsizes programs. Originally, applications to participate in the program had to be received by April 23.Â

The meeting will take place in Iowa City, but will be live streamed from www.regents.iowa.gov, and meeting materials will be available for review in Room 18 of Seerley Hall on the UNI campus.
The Board of Regents will meet again April 25 at UNI.
