UPDATE: Winter Storm Developing Across State; Cedar Falls Won't Be Spared

The winter storm watch has been upgraded to a warning.

The National Weather Service out of Des Moines has issued a winter storm warning for several counties, including Black Hawk County.

Heavy snow is expected over portions of central to northwest Iowa this afternoon and evening. The warning is in effect midnight tonight.

Light snow will begin across northwest Iowa this morning, with rain and snow falling later today across central Iowa. The heaviest snow will be across northwest into central Iowa. Five to eight inches of snow are forecast.

Winds of 15 to 30 miles per hour are expected, which could reduce visibility during the heaviest snowfall this evening.
