• Daggett excited for role as Creston mayor (kmaland.com) — Creston is set to have a new mayor, as attorney Douglas Daggett leads unofficial results in Tuesday’s special election to fill the unexpired term. A longtime Creston resident, Daggett says he’ll focus on improving housing options, tackling nuisance properties, and restoring civility at city council meetings. Final results will be canvassed soon by the Union County Board of Supervisors.
   

• Shoreline work, dredging, algae prevention part of state's 2026 lake restoration plan (littlevillagemag.com) — Major restoration work at Three Mile Lake near Creston and alum treatments at nearby Green Valley Lake are part of Iowa DNR’s ongoing lake restoration program. The state is investing $9.6 million annually in shoreline repairs, dredging, and algae control at dozens of lakes. Residents who care about local recreation and drinking water can comment on the 2025 report and 2026 plan through Dec. 17.
